British Columbia native and Canadian Country singer/songwriter Madeline Merlo will release her debut album, Free Soul, on Friday April 29. (Available for Pre-Order now on iTunes)
Driving-playlist essential, her new single “Whatcha Wanna Do About It” is the most recent release from her debut album. The track has been climbing CMT’s Top 20 Country Music Chart and is gaining steam in the US and Canada featured on SiriusXM’s The Highway #OnTheHorizon.
It’s a toe-tapping follow-up to last summer’s catchy “Honey Jack,” which received widespread airplay. Her first two singles “Sinking Like A Stone” and “Alive” were champions of JRfm’s New Country Challenge. Merlo currently has 1.4 Million Spotify Streams, and was the only country artist chosen for Spotify Canada’s Spotlight 2016, putting her on the radar of country- and pop-music lovers alike.
Following the success of “Honey Jack,” Merlo opened for country royalty Keith Urban and went on to scoop 2015’s Rising Star award at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards and Female Vocalist of the Year at the British Columbia Country Music Association Awards. Then she rounded out 2015 touring with heavyweights Dean Brody and Paul Brandt.
“There is a lot of material on here that has a very personal connection to me, especially having participated in writing a number of the tracks. I can’t wait to share the rest of the album,” says Madeline Merlo.
This summer sees Merlo performing at major country music festivals across Canada, including The Rockin River Fest, B.C. and Boots and Hearts, Ont. Fans will also be able to witness Merlo in her acting debut in upcoming country musical film Country Crush, inspired by the Nashville scene, out this summer. Merlo plays aspiring singer Nancy Taylor who falls in love in her quest for stardom, alongside Jana Kramer and Sophie Tweed-Simmons.
